Prision for Narcotrafficker Caught Transporting Large Quantities of Hashish in Car Airbag
In a major operation, the National Police have arrested a drug dealer involved in medium-scale drug trafficking in the province of Alicante. The male suspect, who has been sent to prison, was smuggling hashish in hidden compartments within his car, including in the airbag compartment.
According to a police statement, the alleged drug trafficker supplied smaller-scale dealers in Alicante. At the time of his arrest, he was found with 20 kilos of hashish hidden in double compartments in the trunk and the airbag space of his car.
The investigation began when the Judicial Police received information about the suspect’s involvement in drug trafficking. After conducting appropriate investigations, it was discovered that he used two different residences and a storage unit to hide the hashish, which he then distributed to various locations across the province.
Once the police learned that he was about to make a delivery, they established an operation around one of the frequently visited spots. The suspect was located and intercepted by the police, who seized the drugs from his vehicle. Upon inspecting the airbag, officers noticed unusual marks which led to the discovery of a substantial amount of hashish.
After being taken to the police station, a further search revealed a hidden compartment in the trunk of the car with even more hashish. The total amount seized amounted to 20 kilos, but subsequent searches would uncover additional quantities of the drug.
The police then conducted searches at the suspect’s residences, finding his underage son at one of them. The son was carrying a plastic bag with a package inside containing 260 euros in small denominations. It was discovered that the alleged trafficker used his son to avoid having the money confiscated. Additionally, 400 grams of hashish were found at this location.
At the second residence, even more drugs were found, totaling approximately 27 kilograms. The detained individual stored the substances in refrigeration units. Furthermore, another 300 grams of the drug were discovered in a storage unit in Alicante that he frequented.
This successful operation led to the seizure of 50 kilograms of hashish, with 20 kilos hidden in the suspect’s regular vehicle and the rest found in the three locations searched. The total value of the seized drugs could reach approximately 100,000 euros once distributed on the black market.
The 42-year-old Spanish male suspect was brought before the Orihuela Investigating Magistrates Court and was immediately remanded in custody.
